From exploring art to learning about the natural world, our Little Indians are gaining experience beyond our classrooms! Our kindergarten students visited the Vero Beach Museum of Art to explore their five senses, while our 5th grade Audubon Advocates learned about fire management and its role in caring for natural habitats. Learning came to life in our own backyard today! Students in Mr. Creary and Ms. Nigito's classes visited the Environmental Learning Center to explore our local waterways and habitats, connecting classroom learning to the natural world around them. Our kindergarten friends enjoyed a special read-aloud with Moonshot, our pal from The Learning Alliance! Meanwhile, our second graders became authors and illustrators of their own books, capturing their learning about ancient civilizations. What a beautiful day to bring science education to life in our own backyard! ☀️🛶 Our 5th grade Audubon Advocates took to the water in kayaks to explore the Indian River Lagoon. With every paddle, they had the chance to observe the habitat they’ve been learning about up close and see why caring for this special place matters. These are the moments our students will remember! 🌿🔬

The doctors were in at VBE today! 🩺❤️ Our first graders turned their human body unit into an incredible showcase of student learning. With their families as their audience, they stepped into the role of doctors and proudly shared what they know about how our bodies work! Earlier this week, students met a nurse and a pharmacist, giving them a chance to connect their learning with real careers in health care. What a way to bring learning to life! 🎶 A-B-C, as easy as IRC! 🎶 Today was an extra-special day at VBE! Our Pre-K and kindergarten students joined The Learning Alliance and the Lullaband to sing the “ABCs of IRC” and unveil colorful new literacy posters on our primary playground! These posters celebrate the communities, things, experiences that make Indian River County special—all while helping our youngest learners build essential early literacy skills. We are incredibly proud to be the first public school in Indian River County to feature the ABCs of IRC on our playground!
