Day of Caring

VERO BEACH, FL (October 4, 2025) - The School District of Indian River County (SDIRC) is proud to announce that every school in the District will participate in United Way’s Day of Caring on Saturday, October 11, 2025. This powerful community event exemplifies the District’s “Connected by Community” strategic pillar, which emphasizes building strong, supportive, and trusting relationships with families, staff, and community partners.

United Way’s Day of Caring provides individuals, families, friends, and teams with the opportunity to give back and make a meaningful difference. Nonprofits often face challenges in keeping up with the many needs of our community, and this day allows volunteers to step in and support their ongoing good work.

The day begins with a welcome, sign-in, and complimentary breakfast at 8:00 AM at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex. Following breakfast, volunteers will disperse to assigned host site locations, where projects will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.

“Each year, countless volunteers roll up their sleeves on Day of Caring to strengthen the fabric of Indian River County,” said Dr. David K. Moore, Superintendent of Schools. “Our schools’ collective participation reflects our deep commitment to service and the belief that we are truly stronger together.”

Projects will showcase the creativity and commitment of SDIRC schools, including campus beautification initiatives, the creation of a butterfly garden project, a community-service-driven highway cleanup, and the development of a STEAM-inspired garden. Each effort is designed to not only enhance local spaces but also foster meaningful connections between students, families, and the broader community.

From beautification projects to hands-on support for nonprofits, Day of Caring brings people together from across the county to create lasting impact. Whether you are a community organization with a project that needs doing, or a volunteer ready to get to work, Day of Caring is for everyone.

This is more than volunteering. This is living our mission.

Together, we are Connected by Community.

Together, we are MySDIRC.
